Yeah…British kids like kicking each other in the nuts with soccer balls and having irritating laughs. Excelent summary by the kid, by the way. “He went boom and it went bauwuhm”

Heartbreaking loss for the Nuggets tonight against the Hornets. 114-112 in overtime. The Nuggets tied it late in OT, but after failing to grab a defensive rebound, the Hornets put in the winning basket as the buzzer sounded. That was basically the story of the night. The Nuggets just are not playing defense right now, and they’re losing games they should win because of it.
I don’t have time to do a full write up, but in case you’re looking for something to do tonight to take your mind off of the loss, we just found Carmelo’s MySpace page. It’s worth a look - word on the street is that Melo actually checks it pretty regularly, and he’s being pretty groundbreaking by being one of the first superstar athletes to start a page. The best part is probably the picture gallery of all his tattoos.
Meanwhile, I’m trying to start a Facebook profile to communicate with some friends, but it’s taking them hours to send my freaking confirmation e-mail. Me and social networking just do not mix.

For those of you who followed the bizarre title of this post, the Rockies have released center fielder Choo Freeman. I understand why - Choo never performed to his potential, and at 27, he’s been given many, many chances to succeed in the majors. He was fast on the basepaths and fairly good defensively in center, but he never hit from a position where teams expect some form of offensive production. Especially with the acquisition of Willy Tavarez and re-signing of Kaz Matsui, Choo’s value as a leadoff man when someone else has the day off is pretty low.
That said, I’m not very happy to see him go. Some of this is because, as Sam will attest to, he is a pretty ridiculous pure athlete. He’s huge, really fast, and…did I mention he’s big? But the main reason I’m sorry to see him go is because of his name, and his entrance song. Choo had become a fan favorite at Coors Field because fans liked yelling ‘CCCCCHHHHHHOOOOOOOOO’ whenever he came up. To everyone at DSZ, it became a kind of inside joke (just look at our sales pitch to the right). We yelled ‘Choo’ and even called friends not at the ballpark to scream his name via cellphone every time he came up or made even the most routine play in the field. It was also fun because screaming Choo was like being a Rockies insider. Die-hards knew people were screaming ‘Choo,’ while most average park goers were probably wondering why those kids were ‘boo’ing that ridiculously good athlete.
As I alluded to, we also liked his entrance song, and we’ll miss listening to Paul Wall’s Trill at the ballpark. I’m not a huge fan of rap, but Sam is (and so is our friend Mark), and I know one of their favorite moments was always bouncing to Trill whenever Choo came up to the plate.
So, we’ll miss you Choo. Maybe not so much as a baseball player…But we’ll miss your raw athletic talent, your name, and your taste in music. Screaming ‘Kaaaaaaaaz’ (basically the next best thing, right?) just won’t be the same…although maybe someone can convince him to adopt Trill…
